Alternativo Futbol Club is a non-profit competitive soccer club providing the player an "alternative" and choice to the traditional local and regional soccer clubs and leagues in the area.  The goal of the club is to foster player development and teamwork in a program with a "minimum of rules and restrictions."

AFC is a member of US Club Soccer, a National Affiliate member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).  US Club Soccer's philosophy is to create a "business-friendly environment to develop programs and services which assist the competitive club and player by providing a minimum of rules and regulations to assure basic fairness, and allow clubs the flexibility to build programs that meet their needs."

AFC teams will be classified under US Club Soccer as either Bronze, Silver, Gold or Premier depending on the skill level, experience, and makeup of each team.  AFC will schedule and reserve twice a week the practice field so that all age groups, teams, and players train together as AFC.  We realize that various factors affect our commitment and time to our sport, therefore, by practicing as a club a player will always workout with other players and teams.  This will mitigate a team practice with not enough players for a worthwhile workout and avoid costly field rentals.  Practicing as a club also allows the coaches to review and evaluate the players and place them in the appropriate team.  Each player develops their skills, physical fitness, and maturity differently and it is our goal to place the player where he/she is challenged and can contribute the most to a team.

Physical fitness required for competitive soccer is paramount to the success of our teams.  AFC coaches will allocate about half of each practice on conditioning and drills and the other half on scrimmages and strategy.  However, the strategy and style of play will depend on the team members themselves.  Our role is simply to develop the fundamental skills necessary to formulate a style and strategy of play for competitive soccer.
